announces a new 10-week
Short Story Writing Workshop
with award-winning poet, novelist, and editor
Barry Dempster
"A SHORT ADVENTURE"
Come explore the technique and magic of the
short story form, with an emphasis on place,
character, voice, plot, and language.The
course will run for ten weeks and will cover
matters such as building an outline, telling the
truth, keeping the reader pinned to the page,
and the power of detail and description.
There will be instruction, writing exercises,
reading assignments, and techniques to
help inspire inspiration.Join Barry for an
adventure in creativity and craft.
When:Tuesdays: February 16 & 23, March 2, 9, 16, & 23, April 6, 13, & 27th, & May 4, 2010.
Time:7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where:Holland Landing Branch
Enrollment: maximum of 15
Application process:Please submit a two-page writing sample along with a fee of $250.00.This fee will be refunded to any unsuccessful applicants. Apply at the Holland Landing Branch in person by January 26, 2010.Space is limited.
