IVAN'S BIRCHES is a collection of poems about the connection between seeing the world and falling in love with it. It evolved from a walk in an Ontario woods, coming upon a sudden birch grove reminiscent of Andrei Tarkovsky's film, Ivan's Childhood. The poems are about the relationship between the art of nature and the artist's response and how the act of seeing transforms both the seer and the object seen.
